Review Sq: A Fine Profession

by Sarah Michelle Lynch

Welcome to another segment of Review Square. Today, we’re hosting a review of Sarah Michelle Lynch’s erotic novel – “A Fine Profession”, in part of The Chambermaid Series.

When I was asked to read the book, to be honest, I was a bit reluctant because of the timeframe that I can deliver the story’s review. I’ve read novels that were good, but filled with far too much fluff and filler; never straight to the point. In this one, I over-estimated the timeframe, and managed to get through the story, within a few weeks time.

The Chambermaid is a character I can identify with and relate to, except that I’m a guy. When I first read the story, I had to admit I needed to re-read the story, because I wasn’t following it through. The beginning of the story did have fluffs and fillers, and I was almost turned off, until I got a better understanding of the beginning of the story. My interest of the story began when I read the pieces between Alex and Charlotte. Charlotte was a cancer survivor who was just finding herself. At first, she never understood why Alex treated her so special, and how much he had cared for her. Charlotte pushed him away, but her awakening didn’t happen until after his death, and her chance to reconcile with Alex never happened.

Without giving any other spoilers, I read the story through, and I’ve got to say… hell ‘fuckin’ yeah! Where was this author all through my life. If a movie was made, I’d watch the movie. I’ve always been a fan of Emmanuel, but Sarah Michelle Lynch has created “The Chambermaid.”

I rate story – a Platinum Read (5-Star). While I’m not a reader of BDSM, I am a reader of erotic romance. Author Sarah M. Lynch made a name of herself on AfterDark Online. This is a story that if I was to hear about it in the movie theatres, I would watch it, and put it on my DVR, or ask for my DVD. The first two chapters, I will admit, are the tough part, if you’re the kind who’s looking for the straight-to-the-point feeling like me. However, Author Sarah M. Lynch delivers. My advice: read her story through, you’ll grab on to her excitements in her story. She has the potential.

If I had to say about the sex scenes in the story, you are going to need more than a toy to please yourself; even more than napkins. I’ve read erotic romance novels, and despite her writing a BDSM erotic romance, I see her as an erotic romance novelist. She has the ability to cry out for pleasure. And she finally made her mark on AfterDark Online as the first author on here to write a 5-Flame story. I’ve read plenty of stories where the authors will turn you on, and keep you masturbating or having unadulterated sex. I will never disclose, but tell you what to look out for. Home girl, take a bow. You’re first person to make it known. I must advise you, you’re going to get wet or hard off her sex scenes. She more than just delivers, she’s putting you there; very cinematic!

The cover of the story was just as enticing as I could imagine. This is an author who takes into consideration of her stories and the imagery of her story. I also have a thing for women in lingerie, except I’m not into being dominated. LOL.

When it came to suspense level, she also managed to make it to a Game-Changer Status. There is something to be glad about reading this story. She is the first one to reach an all five-status; overall feeling, sex scenes, and suspense. author Sarah Michelle Lynch has made a name of herself. If a movie deal was to take place, my advice would be don’t be a fool. I could envision it on film. Baby girl, give yourself a round of applause! You are the first to hit an all-five category! While BDSM isn’t my true forte, I’m willing to keep an open-mind about reading it. Somehow, I can see Sarah Michelle Lynch writing more erotic stories in the future. My advice, keep a watch out for her.

After Dark Online give you a round of applause. You’re the first to make an all-five star status, and we hope to see you on here again.

Definitely a recommend.

To That He Cherished…A Poem

I met you in the gallery of stars

And drank the ether of your eyes.

Sense. Sight.

My wares obliterate.

Beyond the orchard walls

You became my soul, at the water’s edge.

Let us go then you and I

Out across the waves and pastures

Of the sinking world.

Come and rest your head awhile.

My memory is hazed adrift.

As the cloud parts from the blissful shore,

My joy departs to thee.

Sleep in the solitude of my love’s cascade,

And wake in the shroud

Of all things beyond the blessed.

Endless joy assured,

My one. My truth. My love.

For Noah and Charlotte

To clarify…

A few people have asked me whether Charlotte’s story is done with at the end of A Fine Profession. My answers have been vague and there is a reason. But I think I should clarify…

A Fine Pursuit is going to very much feature her, even though it is from Noah’s perspective. At the end of Book One, we are left with some BIG questions. We know she left him, we know that from the very beginning of Book One. There is something Charlotte never expected Noah would do and in A Fine Pursuit, he does it. He books himself in for therapy.

Book Two is very heavy on the psychology. It is with this in mind, I should warn you now that I have decided not to list this as an erotic novel. There are plenty of sex scenes still, there always are in any books of mine, but this is a book which you might need to prepare yourselves for. This is much less a sex book than A Fine Profession. The romancer in Noah has made this very much a story of one man’s dreadful past and the woman who forces him to not only face it, but embrace it and hopefully… move on. Sex becomes a sideline of the enormous emotional connection they grow to share.

So to warn you, this is a CONTINUATION of the couple’s story, and not just Noah’s version of Book One. The story continues. It is ongoing. There will be scenes featuring Noah’s interpretation of some parts of Book One, but I’ve only weaved the important elements fundamental to his therapy and the condition he suffers.

Whether the Chambermaid and her lover get their happy ever after, you will just have to read to find out…

At present, I am feeling excited, nervous, tired, impatient, annoyed, happy, sad, oh… and more… The research for these books has been integral and whether I meant to or not, I think I pulled something out of the bag that nobody will expect. I have made huge sacrifices to write these books but I loved every minute. Thought every hardship worth it. Watch this space…

TEASER…TEASER…TEASER

This is the PROLOGUE from my new novel A Fine Pursuit, releasing November 1st…

Noah stands on the periphery observing the chaos. He vaguely sees two people warring and yet his own mental conflict rages louder. Something is mixing with the blood and adrenalin pumping around his body – but he refuses to be provoked. He feels dizzy and out of control; sick with a sense of terrible foreboding. He is paralysed by an innate and dreadful fear.

The memory dissipates and he is somewhere else, far, far away from that scene. He has her in his arms. He takes a deep, satisfying breath of her hair and holds her close. The peace she affords him obliterates all those reminders of the ordeal. The woman he loves feels so soft and gentle against his much larger, harder body. She nuzzles her nose in his chest and waves of joy flow through his heart and stomach so that nothing hurts, no bad ever happened. The daily struggle to avoid his torment has been completely eradicated.

He blinks. Then in a mere moment, he is back in the cavernous depths of his subconscious mind. He suffers anguish beyond anything the ordinary man may experience throughout an entire lifetime. His large frame trembles with unforgiving loathing and he has no control again. His impulses are a menace. They wage a war against the educated man inside him that wants to break the pattern and be something better, something healthier and more wholesome. He just never managed it.

He hears the smash of bones and sees the twisted neck of the person at his feet. Her eyes are wide open, bloodshot, yet lifeless.

A voice echoing inside his head taunts him: You are responsible.

***

Noah wakes up in a cold sweat, bolting up out of bed. He knows only that he feels numb and the crushing, strangulating desolation is hard to break free of. It was a dream, just a dream. He falls back down in bed, curling into a ball, and wishes Charlotte were with him. Ever since she left, he has been alone, tormented and reminded.

He undid her; she undid him.

Though she might be surviving, he is slowly falling into the pits of despair.

A FINE PROFESSION (the first of the chambermaid’s tales) IS CURRENTLY ON SALE…

Some great 5 ***** reviews… a happy author

I received a great review from a fellow author for my erotic novel, A Fine Profession…

Though it’s billed as chick-lit, A Fine Profession by Sarah Michelle Lynch is much more than that simple genre tag allows. What I discovered between these electronic pages is an involved story that’s engaging in ways as to draw the interests of both sexes. To label it as mere chick-lit or erotica serves only to lure a certain segment of readers while keeping others at bay.

This is the story of Lottie, a practitioner of all things sexual, hence the erotica label. But the story delves deeper into the human condition, examining the choices made by this one woman. Lottie is the one telling the story of her own sexual awakening, spilling her secrets to Heath, a private investigator sent to track down this mysterious Chambermaid. The sex scenes certainly call for an audience of 18 years of age and older; but don’t be turned away. Lynch has crafted a well-written story filled with fleshed-out characters that are as real as any literary characters I’ve ever read. We learn of Lottie’s childhood battle with illness, of her struggles with early-adulthood responsibilities, and of the true love she seeks. But just who sent this private investigator to track down the Chambermaid? You’ll have to purchase your own copy to get answers. This is a book I feel safe in recommending. I don’t normally read erotica, but A Fine Profession offers so much more than simple sex. I rate Lynch’s novel 5 out of 5 stars.

Not long later, I received another great review from another fellow author, for Beneath the Veil…

The story that unfolded before me as I read the pages of this paperback entranced me. The main character, Seraph, is an edgy and ‘dangerous’ reporter in the future time of 2063, a reporter with more flare than Lois Lane, and more reason to hold a grudge; in this future vision, the world is recovering from a viral disaster, and Seraph is in the middle of it all, taking her chances to tap her sources.

However, all is thrown in the air when it is revealed that her last surviving, much loved and revered relative, is dead. She hot steps it
from New York to York, Yorkshire, to attend the funeral and pay her respects. Yet there is more here than meets the eye, and from one of the last remaining wedding dress shops where said relative, Eve, had spent her life, an underground network of mystery and betrayal is discovered.

Intertwined with this, Seraph finds herself falling in love with a Dr, a man who was supposedly fired from the large corporation that now runs most of the world’s resources.

I truly enjoyed this novel and read a part every time I have an opportunity, and on my free day, I finished the last half in almost one gulp. A truly energised and inspired read, reminding me much of Resident Evil meets James Bond, though it is neither of these things and yet can borrow from both simultaneously. It is fast, sensual, exciting, and mischievous.

If I had to pick one thing to critique, it would be that the character viewpoints are mixed throughout a large portion of the book, meaning that in one scene you hear and know what more than one character is thinking, which can get a little confusing, (for example, the scene is all about Seraph walking through a room, thinking things over, but then her love interest’s thoughts come in from his perspective in the same paragraph.) However, that said, this is the first novel by this author and such things are easily looked over when you are as involved with the story as I was.

The ending is good, and I look forward to purchasing the next book in the series and finding out what happens next.

An Announcement

It has been an incredibly difficult decision to make… but I have decided to self-publish my next book, A Fine Profession. I really have had a hard time of it but I have made my decision.

I feel that I have come so far already and I cannot stop now. I have worked so hard for so many months on building a name for myself and getting a following. I believe in self-publishing and I believe in it because it offers writers the chance to sell their words themselves. There is so much hard work yet but you can all help me with this.

I have been writing A Fine Profession in my head for quite a long time. This year, I wrote solidly from February to April and I believe this book was even harder to write than the whole trilogy combined. I felt an incredible responsibility to get it right. The past few months have been spent self-editing and garnering opinion about what people want from a new breed of erotica… so I have taken a subject close to my heart and exploded it onto the page with some highly erotic scenes and some still touching moments.

The style and feel of this book is not like the trilogy at all. This is a much different outing for me and it is one that I am looking forward to getting opinion on. I never shy away from trying new things and this is what I have done. I aim to constantly challenge myself and my readers.

So, please put July 12th in your diaries and prepare to read a love story which, though unconventional, will hopefully touch your hearts nonetheless.

This is going to be a duo and A Fine Pursuit will not be far behind… Exciting times!! More details to follow very shortly.

Love,

Sarah
