New 5* Reviews for Unleash

I’m ecstatic every time I get a review. It not only means someone lasted the book out, it also means they took time afterwards to say how much they enjoyed it. Countless people come to me to say they’ve enjoyed my work but when I ask for reviews, they’re not so forthcoming. Call it shyness or whatever, but reviews mean everything to an Indie author so please review. Write your review under a pseudonym and never tell anyone, it’s okay! 😉 A friend’s words the other night were, “Among all the flimsy erotic books out there, yours have really incredible, twisted stories attached!” You’ve just no idea how hard it is to stand out in this crowded arena these days.
I am always looking for fellow readers because at the end of the day I write books I would like to read. So if you enjoyed my work, please, please just take the time to write a line or two on Amazon. It means so much! Otherwise at the end of the day, us authors cannot keep writing. It also baffles me every time a stranger says, “Yeah I’ve read your work. It’s great. I respect what you do.” Yet, this isn’t reflected in the reviews. I am hashtag #baffled# on a daily basis by this. So, thanks eternally for the following reviews;

Continuing the story of Cai, Chloe and Cai’s devious mother Claudia, the central character in this last part of the Sub Rosa trilogy is Kayla. You will easily identify with her as she struggles to understand the various clues that come her way. This part pf the story is every bit as gripping as the earlier two, but, please, read the earlier two first to get maximum enjoyment

Unleash (Sub Rosa Series Book 3)
By Sarah Michelle Lynch

http://amzn.to/1PjaAuj

Kayla Tate seems to have it all; a great job, fabulous style, and friends who care about her. Her life is turned upside down when she learns a deep dark secret that just cannot stay hidden any longer.

Along with this secret comes Carl Sorensen; the head honcho of Frame Magazine, and drop dead gorgeous. Kayla knows he is not the man for her but curiosity might kill this little cat. Can Kayla stop herself from falling for the right guy and focus on helping bring the truth to light? Or will her past demons mess everything up?

This is the perfect ending to the Sub Rosa series! All our questions are answered, and everything comes together smoothly. We normally see things thru Cai or Chloe’s point of view, but in Unleash, we see things through Chloe’s best friend Kayla Tate’s point of view.

We met Kayla in the previous books, and it’s nice to get to learn her background story in Unleash. She is such a big part of Chloe’s life, that it is only natural that she has a hand in finding the missing pieces of Jennifer/Claudia’s story.

What I love about Kayla, is she is the baddest chick you will probably ever meet; but thought Unleash, we get to see her vulnerable side. She ends up being like any other female. She has this tough exterior, but is fighting some of the same issues every girl has inside.

Unleash has a little bit of everything you would want in a story: humor, love, betrayal, and even some action. Sarah Lynch has done an incredible job filling in all the details we needed to know. I was sad when it ended, but we learn just enough of Chloe, Cai, Kayla, and Carl’s future to be satisfied. I highly recommend you pick up this series. There is NO WAY you’ll be disappointed!

thankyou

News and Updates

Happy summer holidays to all parents out there currently pulling their hair out! That includes me! 😉 Hoping to make the most of the holidays, just as soon as I shift this end-of-term-itis!

I have a few things in the pipeline at the moment so before I disappear to enjoy the summer, here we go…

I just wrote an exciting piece for an erotic website called frolicme.com and it has been very well received. Watch this space, it should be out fairly soon-ish! Check out the website and keep your eyes peeled.

The first 5* reviews of Unleash have started to come in…

5.0 out of 5 stars The petals fall on this fabulous, fast paced trilogy!, 19 July 2015
This review is from: Unleash (Sub Rosa Trilogy Book 3) (Kindle Edition)
The concluding novel in the Sub Rosa trilogy grabs you from the very first page and does not let up until you’ve read the final word. This book is from the perspective of Kayla, Chloe’s best friend and a character that has had a turbulent past, closed off to the notion that love could be her’s. But as she loses her heart to another flawed character they are able to start to mend. Coupled with this super, sexy love story is the continuing way that Claudia is trying to control their lives in her own evil way!
Will love conquer all, will Claudia gets what she deserves? All I can say is that the twists and turns of this plot will keep you turning the page long into the night. It is fast paced, beautifully written and you really feel like you are emersed in the characters lives. Towards the end I wanted to slow down, savour my final encounter with Chloe, Cai and Kayla. I didn’t want to say goodbye.
These three books are so worth reading and now you can do it without the wait in between. They will leave you breathless so don’t wait to buy, grab them now and fall in love!
5.0 out of 5 stars Unleash the secrets 22 July 2015
Format:Kindle Edition
Unleash is the third instalment of the Sub Rosa series, so far the series has been filled with mystery and suspense and this final instalment is no different.

Book three brings Kayla Tate to the forefront, delving into her background and relationships. Kayla has featured in the two previous books as Chloe’s best friend, she has supported Chloe through the trials and tribulations of her relationship with Cai Matthews but it turns out she is more involved in the mystery than we realised.

Kayla is a strong and feisty woman, having a troubled past has made her the woman that she is today. Whilst following Kayla’s budding relationship the ever present Claudia Matthews weaves her secrets and lies in everyone’s lives. Is Kayla strong enough to unleash the lies and finally solve the mystery?

This is a fast paced book, and the author has done the story justice, how she was able to keep on top of the web of lies I have no ideas but I was gripped!

This series has had me in suspense and the ending is perfect! I have to re-read this series to see if I have missed anything, or if the truth is hidden within the pages.

This is a sexy, mystery that you will not want to put down!

Don’t forget the first book in the series is just 99pence/cents (click images to buy):

Portraying BDSM

4adfc5b4b800df3bddd41684f5cc4693

In my latest book UNLEASH, which I’m now almost finished editing, the heroine Kayla Tate has spent years finding sexual relationships largely unfulfilling. Well, until she meets THE ONE. He just happens to be a DOMINANT.

KAY (4)I’m not talking about fantasy BDSM, I’m talking about the BDSM that real couples in real life engage in. Perhaps I am opening a can of worms (considering BDSM in itself is about fantasy in some respect), but I guess what I’m going to try to explain is how my latest research has informed UNLEASH, a book featuring a healthy, not to mention sustainable, dom/sub relationship.

This article is difficult to write because there’s a lot about the book I don’t want to reveal. However I’ve been told to write blogs about what I feel passionate about and portraying BDSM as something couples do not to inflict pain on one another, but to express their love and trust, is something I feel very passionate about.

Coincidentally, this article presented itself to me this morning and when I read it, I was nodding along a bit: http://hustlerhollywoodstores.com/4-things-you-need-to-know-before-you-try-bdsm/

b1a8372a942f57008e6eaa513d500bc2

If you’re an author you can probably relate to this: sometimes during the writing of a book, you come across all sorts of articles or stories in conversation and they kind of make you realise you’re on the right track with an angle—sometimes a real-life titbit of information may just add to or embellish something you’ve already written. It may be fate that we come across coincidental articles/books/films/documentaries or it might be we find ourselves gravitating towards certain topics because the story we’re working on is absorbing our minds so much, we sink ourselves into anything vaguely resembling the issues our current WIP (work in progress) deals with.

erotica

Anyway, I was glad when I read the above article because it’s all stuff I’ve got down in UNLEASH and hopefully, the book will deliver you an account of how, why, where and what couples do when they engage in BDSM. Nevertheless, it’s not a book filled with page after page of scenes in a dungeon. In fact there’s only one scene in a dungeon! The book is an existential one, so the personality traits of the characters themselves are more important; their preferences and their lifestyles outside the bedroom surmount the sex. Rather than give you a rundown of tools and appropriate clothing, I’ve put you in the minds of two people who are kinky—and what made and still makes them kinky.

8096556934_cb21d5812c_z

UNLEASH is a complex book I’ve had a lot of headaches with because as well as portraying BDSM right (people who practice BDSM aren’t always abused, but sometimes BDSM is actually a wonderful way for the abused to feel safe and heal if nurtured properly), I’ve also got a web of lies to undo and a few more than two characters to get right. I’ve got four characters. Two couples. While one of the couples is more casually kinky (Cai and Chloe, who are occasional spankers, not dom/sub as such), the other couple on the flip side only know how to express their true selves through BDSM. The dom/sub duo in UNLEASH still enjoy normal sex but for some reason, BDSM just gives them a tad more freedom to be themselves. So with lies to uncover, back stories to tell and characters to build, the sex isn’t the focus but it’s there bubbling under the surface and I really hope UNLEASH just shows how in real life, men and women come to participate and engage in healthy, beautiful BDSM relationships.

Here’s just a few of the interesting points of view I’ve come across in my research:

  • The sub chooses her dom.
  • Doms are extremely caring and attentive.
  • Some abused women find themselves drawn to being submissive; and the dynamic can prove healing, but it has to be one of consent, communication and choice.
  • BDSM couples often have more frank discussions about their needs/wants.
  • It’s not always about pain.
  • The high that subs may experience after an intense BDSM session is akin to being on drugs. It’s a myth it’s all about the dom’s pleasure!
  • Aftercare is paramount. Many people who engage in BDSM say aftercare is the most intimate part of the experience and that is their favourite thing about it all, in fact.
  • Sexually submissive women are often dominant in various other areas of life.

5d06704cc0cbc6de94211bc220c12a3e

Perhaps I am treading a fine line putting a previously raped woman in a BDSM relationship with a Daddy Dom. Or maybe the abused woman finds empowerment and freedom in submitting. The difference being, with her dom she always has a choice and in actual fact, she’s the one very much in charge. Perhaps BDSM gives her freedom and escape from who she is outside the dungeon? Like I said though, the BDSM aspect of this book is just a small part, though pivotal to the whole. The plot is the central player in my books and the sex is just an added bonus! So, why do we keep writing books about sex? I guess because erotic books tell us so much about human nature…

About Sarah Michelle Lynch:

11391107_579134152190339_4625233572132821163_n

British author Sarah Lynch knew she could write from a very early age when a children’s story earned her several gold stars from a primary school teacher. She went on to earn various scholastic accolades and her love of reading and writing maintained through school life, progressing into adulthood with the pursuit of a degree in English Literature and then a career in magazine journalism.

It wasn’t until Sarah became a mum that she found the time and courage to write her debut novel, The Radical, the first in a dystopian science-fiction series which she had wanted to write for some time. After that, a dare prompted her to try her hand at erotica and A Fine Profession received some very strong reactions she could never have predicted. Since then Sarah’s stayed on the path of romance with her work ranging from contemporary to paranormal.

Her latest work, Unfurl, is the second part of the Sub Rosa series which begins with Unbind, the story of two people’s blossoming relationship set against a mystery from the past. In addition to her writing, Sarah is also self-employed as an editor and proofreader.

Some more new reviews…

The Sub Rosa Trilogy is one you’ll start and not be able to turn your back on, if the reviews and messages I’ve had from readers so far are anything to go by! It’s only a couple of days now until I reveal the cover for the third book, UNLEASH, and so it’s a good time to start getting stuck into the series with the first book UNBIND. ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

ONLY today I received this review of UNFURL and this bit of the review pretty much sums up what the series has in store:-

Finding not truths, but in fact more layers of lies, Chloe and Cai weave through a complex story of shame, guilt, abuse and love that seems to visit all hidden facets of human behaviour. With gangsters and art, deaths and secrets, revelations and love, Unfurl truly is a masterpiece from Sarah Michelle Lynch. One to be damned proud of!

An alternative name for this book though that came to mind was UNLOCK, for when the petals of this story do unfurl, complete with UNBIND, the doors of this thrilling piece unlock. You can almost hear the key scrape as it turns, and the characters follow its course to the inevitable yet captivating conclusion.

In short. Yes! I loved it!

Why Do I Write? A Blog Hop…

Thank you Charming Man for asking me to do this Blog Hop. Pay Charming Man, also known as A S Wilkins, a visit to see why he writes! I thoroughly enjoyed hearing his comments on this subject, and more besides.

I too have been asked a number of times to explain why I write. I have even wrote poetry about why I write! It does seem to vary from writer to writer but ultimately we all seem to have the same goals in mind: we have something to say, we have a shared enjoyment of forming stories and we wouldn’t mind one day seeing our words on shelves.

I have written professionally since my early twenties and now in my early thirties… well… you get the picture. My words had been out there for years before I began writing creatively. When I first started getting paid for writing, I thought it was such a novelty because writing has always been something I have enjoyed. Don’t get me wrong, you won’t ever get paid much for writing. Not unless you drop lucky with the right thing at the right time. Those stories are very few and far between. Apparently the average novelist earns about £11,000 a year but that is of course an average. I earned more than that writing TV magazine features.

Why I write? I guess writing is installed in me like WiFi is in nearly every home in the land these days. I was told from a really early age that I could write and I knew that how I felt when I wrote was what made it special, because… this is where it is hard to explain… it feels good to write and it feels, basically, REAL. It’s hard to put it into words even though I am meant to be a wielder of words! LOL. Like I said, so many teachers actually sat me down and said with a restrained smirk, “You do know you can write?” I would sit and gawp, inwardly think they were deranged, and ask, “What do you mean I can write?” Then they would say, “Not many people can write.” Over the years I got to realise exactly what they meant because the formation of sentence structure and all that is really a struggle for some whose brains are wired differently, but obviously my brain is wired toward words. Don’t ask me why. I know I am certainly not wired properly in other ways… not that I am crazy! Okay, maybe just a bit! I just can’t sing and I don’t think I will ever be able to draw.

My story began on maternity leave. I wrote a sci-fi series with a baby attached to me. It was an idea that had been brewing in my mind for so long and when I gave birth, it brewed some more and when my daughter began sleeping, it got put down on a page. Writing those books was like breathing, to me, and not writing them was not even a possibility. I had to write those books. Even when I went back to work, I found time to write. I made time. It was hard but I enjoyed it so much. Whenever I finish a novel, I think, “Not again, not again,” but if an idea starts to brew and I start to think about where I could take it, that’s what pushes me on to write again. So I guess one of the essential reasons I write is that there are always paths to venture down and you never know where you may end up. I like writing stories a little differently, sometimes… testing what I can and can’t get away with in terms of exposition. It’s the pattern and the puzzle and the arrangement I like. That’s what I can get involved with, anytime, anywhere. That’s how I know wherever I am, whatever point in my life I’m at, I’ll always make time to write even if it’s just a few paragraphs each day. Because it’s having that chance to explore and play with words—and that is something I truly, truly love.

One thing I will say is that it took me a long time to snap from journalist to creative writer. As a journalist you are taught to shed all the nuances of your writing and to hone everything so that you present the details in as few words as possible. That was a hard thing to learn and to some extent, I had to unlearn that when I came to writing novels. Writers are told they should start small and work their way up from say short stories or poetry but I honestly just had this story in my mind that was so big, I had to get it down and there was no build-up—the result a 100,000-word beast that was my first novel and my first creative outing too.

My latest book features a journalist. She is happy enough to plod along until someone says, “You know what? You can do better.” I think writers write and continue to write according to response and approval, too. Many writers would argue they only improve through their readers and from feedback. That is why I think writers just have to keep writing and why every word counts, because it could lead to a monumental paragraph or sentence, even. If you stand there thinking, Shall I pick up the pen? you probably never will. I know that I wouldn’t have kept writing novels with such verve unless I’d gotten such positive feedback. Some people have even come to me after reading A Fine Profession and said, “I am going to change my life now after reading that.” Some books aren’t easy books but you just know that it feels right to write, at that point in time.

The mind of a writer and a writer’s life is explored in more depth in, UNBIND… for details visit http://wp.me/P39fPt-aB or Amazon here… http://mybook.to/unbind ‒ RELEASED ON OCTOBER 20th!!

Unbind, coming soon….!

No release date yet, but this happened today…

I mentioned the other day that I was digging my heels in over ending this novel and I realised why today – as I typed in the words every author usually longs to write. This time, I was loathe to.

With the writing of Unbind, I had so many little plot strands to make sense of in the last few chapters. It was an ordeal sitting at my laptop trying to think about how to slot this puzzle together in a nice, neat ending that doesn’t do any of the characters any disservice.

All I can say is that if you truly allow yourself to become invested in my latest story, the last few words really will pack some punch. I won’t tell you how I reacted to actually typing out THE END. I will just let you experience this book for what it is. It is a novel best enjoyed knowing nothing about it.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????I have to do a read-through now before I decide whether it’s ready for other eyes!

Those who have already expressed an interest in my latest work – I will contact you soon if you asked for a review copy!
